On Wednesday, Donald Trump blindsided America with a decision to ban transgender people from serving in the U.S. military.
The Department of Defense was just as caught off guard as the rest of the country — so much that it plans on completely ignoring the policy change until POTUS actually clarifies what he meant by it!

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, made up of senior uniformed leaders in the DoD, advised that the U.S. military will not make any changes to its transgender policy until Trump goes through the proper channels.
Chairman Joe Dunford said in a memo to military leaders on Thursday:
"I know there are questions about yesterday's announcement on the transgender policy by the president. There will be no modifications to the current policy until the president's direction has been received by the secretary of defense and the secretary has issued implementation guidance. In the meantime, we will continue to treat all of our personnel with respect."
Seeing as the Clown in Chief lacks any ability to do things by the book, this could take a while.
Things were hectic at the Pentagon on Wednesday following the president announcing plans to reinstate the transgender military ban lifted over a year ago under Barack Obama.
But Defense officials were especially worried after Trump's first tweet, fearing that he was getting ready to announce strikes on North Korea or some other huge military action.

Many were left biting their nails for nine minutes between Trump's first and second tweet — as the president loves to keep us in suspense, like this is one giant fucking episode of The Apprentice. Ugh.
Even after Trump's following tweets revealed a personnel change, Pentagon officials did not get much more clarity. Vice Admiral Robert Burke, who is chief of Naval Personnel, also sent a memo Thursday noting the office of the secretary of defense "is working to quickly discern the President's intent."
Makes us wonder what "Generals and military experts" Trump spoke with before making this decision…
Burke also revealed that currently serving trans members will continue to receive medical treatment, writing:
"Treating service members with dignity and respect is something we expect from our Sailors at all times."
At least our defense leaders know how to respect and honor the troops that serve our country. Wish we could say the same for the president!
