A team in Iceland wanted to find a unique way to help stray cats and so they crafted Keeping Up With The Kattarshians’. A show which is streamed virtually 24 hours a day, allowing you constant coverage of the kittens and cats as they interact with each other and go about their daily business. The adorable project wasn’t a simple one to start. “There were many complications that needed to be solved prior to the production. We needed to make sure the whole project would get approval from all the authorities, The Cat Protection society and the Animal Welfare Office,” the show’s producer, Inga Lind Karlsdóttir, tells LadBible. “Then we set out a plan, found the right spot for the house, the right cameras, made sure the temperature would always be sufficient, same with the lights. And it was not easy to find the right furniture because of the size, it’s abnormal,” Karlsdóttir explains. But, now the house is complete and the cats live in comfort and style. The compact home is more luxurious than many human houses, with plush chairs, scratch posts and fluffy toys. The home also includes comfortable beds on several different levels as well as hideaways so that the kittens can have some privacy. Currently, Keeping Up With The Kattarshian’s  features five kittens and their mother. Each kitten has a unique personality, meaning that they bring variety to the show. But, they can’t stay in the house forever… The kitten’s will remain in the home, until they are old enough to be adopted and find new homes. Then, a new family will move in and take over the show, giving viewers a whole new group to fall in love with! There is hope that the show will help them find new families and boost interest in adoption. It is a plan which certainly seems to be working, with the kitten reality show going viral online and gaining thousands of viewers. “We have these wonderful caretakers to feed the cats, play with them and pet them, three to four times a day. That’s when the cameras are off. It is important for all kittens to get to know human beings and build trust with them,” Karlsdóttir explains. “Then we get new homeless kittens in the house who assume the lead role of the next Keeping Up With the Kattarshians. We get a lot of messages from fans all over the world. People care about the cats and when they find something wrong with them or the cameras they immediately contact us.” The show is undeniably a success, which has prompted Karlsdóttir to consider running a reality show about puppies. The idea isn’t entirely off the cards, however, it would be much harder to achieve as puppies would require a very different environment to cats.
