Work hard in life and the rewards are obvious.
That concept will be familiar to many of us, who slog day in, day out, keeping our heads down and doing our utmost to earn a living. Of course, only a small portion of the world’s employed population ever earn a truly telling sum of money. Such individuals would tell you of the sacrifices and dedication that such financial reward is borne from, though it surely follows that no small amount of luck and a relatively fortunate starting place also play their part in accruing considerable wealth. Of course, for some, wealth is handed to them on a plate. It is easy to resent such individuals, who have never had to work hard for their financial freedom, despite it not being their own fault that they happened to be born into unimaginable riches. In the case of those who have worked hard for most of their lives to be granted such financial liberty, it is understandable that they might want to afford themselves certain luxuries; after all, they’ve earned it, quite literally. For most of us, though, a $260,000 Ferrari, for example, is an unimaginable version of reality. The price of a reasonably priced house, there is simply no way that the vast majority of the world’s population could afford such opulence. So imagine, if you would, the gut wrenching feeling of writing it off a mere hour after buying it. Unfortunately for one proud new Ferrari owner, that is exactly what happened, as pictures released by police depicting the astonishing wreckage of a black Ferrari 430 Scuderia emerged earlier this week. It is thought that the vehicle had been driven in wet conditions and lost control. Having left the road, the car “slid 50 metres across a field” and promptly burst into flames, according to the Daily Mail. A statement released by South Yorkshire Police Operational Support on Facebook elaborated on the incident;
“Afternoon folks, were you stuck in traffic this afternoon on the M1 south around junction 37? If so, here’s why.
“Officers were deployed to a single vehicle collision with reports that the vehicle had left the carriageway and burst in to flames.
“Road conditions were wet at the time and as officers arrived on scene it became clear there was a vehicle well alight.
“Colleagues from South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue were in attendance squirting water all over some kind of sporty motor some 50 or so meters down a banking.
“As we are an inquisitive bunch, we found the driver and were amazed to see he only had minor cuts and bruises!
“Officers asked the driver what sort of car he ‘had’ to which he replied ‘it was a Ferrari’.
“Detecting a sense of damaged pride he then said: ‘I’ve only just got it, picked it up an hour ago’.
“The serious part of this post: Over the past couple of weeks there has been a number of collisions where driving styles have not reflected the road & weather conditions – please take more care.
“Ps. Here’s a couple of pictures of the previously mentioned sporty motor – for those who aren’t very knowledgeable on cars, it was a Ferrari 430 Scuderia.”
From the pictures, it seems remarkable that the driver was not more seriously injured (other than his damaged pride, of course).
