JAY-Z Opens Up About Facing His Infidelity With Beyonc & His Strained Relationship With Kanye West!

JAY-Z

is an open book these days.

Sitting down with T: The New York Times Styles Magazine executive editor Dean Baquet, the 47-year-old opened up about the therapeutic process of facing his infidelity after cheating on Beyoncé, race in America, and his strained friendship with Kanye West.

Speaking on making a joint album at the same time Bey was creating Lemonade, the 4:44 artist said:

"We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together. And then the music she was making at that time was further along. So her album came out as opposed to the joint album that we were working on. Um, we still have a lot of that music. And this is what it became. There was never a point where it was like, 'I'm making this album.' I was right there the entire time."

Wow, we really need to get our hands on that joint album…

Related: The 2018 Grammy Nominations!

When asked if their individual projects caused them pain listening back, the rapper admitted:

"Of course. And both very, very uncomfortable, but the best place in the, you know, hurricane is like in the middle of it. We were sitting in the eye of that hurricane … The best place is right in the middle of the pain. And that's where we were sitting. And it was uncomfortable. And we had a lot of conversations. You know. [I was] really proud of the music she made, and she was really proud of the art I released. And, you know, at the end of the day we really have a healthy respect for one another's craft. I think she's amazing. You know, most people walk away, and like divorce rate is like 50 percent or something ’cause most people can't see themselves. The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone's face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself. So, you know, most people don't want to do that. You don't want to look inside yourself. And so you walk away."

As far as the impact going to therapy in general has had on him, JAY said he's much more evolved in how he reacts to people:

"I grew so much from the experience. But I think the most important thing I got is that everything is connected. Every emotion is connected and it comes from somewhere. And just being aware of it. Being aware of it in everyday life puts you at such a … you're at such an advantage. You know, you realize that if someone's racist toward you, it ain't about you. It's about their upbringing and what happened to them, and how that led them to this point. You know, most bullies bully. It just happen. Oh, you got bullied as a kid so you trying to bully me. I understand. And once I understand that, instead of reacting to that with anger, I can provide a softer landing and maybe, 'Aw, man, is you O.K.?' I was just saying there was a lot of fights in our neighborhood that started with 'What you looking at? Why you looking at me? You looking at me?' And then you realize: 'Oh, you think I see you. You're in this space where you're hurting, and you think I see you, so you don't want me to look at you. And you don't want me to see you."

Because before, connecting wasn't always so easy:

"You have to survive. So you go into survival mode, and when you go into survival mode what happen? You shut down all emotions. So even with women, you gonna shut down emotionally, so you can't connect … In my case, like it's, it's deep. And then all the things happen from there: infidelity…"

Speaking of connection, JAY also got real about his relationship with Kanye, which is currently on the rocks:

"I [talked to] Kanye the other day, just to tell him, like, he's my brother. I love Kanye. I do. It's a complicated relationship with us … Kanye came into this business on my label. So I've always been like his big brother. And we're both entertainers. It's always been like a little underlying competition with your big brother. And we both love and respect each other's art, too. So it's like, we both — everyone wants to be the greatest in the world. You know what I'm saying? And then there's like a lot of other factors that play in it. But … we gonna always be good."

When asked about the tension between the two, the Brooklyn native revealed:

"That happens. In the long relationship, you know, hopefully when we're 89 we look at this six months or whatever time and we laugh at that. There's gonna be complications in the relationship that we have to get through. And the only way to get through that is we sit down and have a dialogue and say, ‘These are the things that I'm uncomfortable with. These are the things that are unacceptable to me. This is what I feel.' I'm sure he feels that I've done things to him as well. … I'm not a perfect human being by no stretch."

Work it out, bbs!

The 7 Items From Lord & Taylor’s Cyber Monday Sale You Need To Add To Your Cart ASAP

Sponsored by  FreePLRArticles.biz
=>

I thought I hated myself on Thanksgiving morning when I was too hungover from my Thanksgiving Eve blackout to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with my little sister, but no. As usual, I’ve outdone myself. I realize my lack of self-control has truly got to me when it comes to Fireball owning a credit card, and I should probably never spend a dime again after this year’s Black Friday. I say this, knowing it lasted approximately two days, aka until Cyber Monday. Every store is having ridiculous deals, but after you hit up the Shop Betches Cyber Monday sale (fucking duh), you need to check out Lord & Taylor’s insane deals. The entire website is 25 percent off, with clearance up to an additional 75 percent off. Just use the code “CYBER” at checkout and the best part is, FREE MOTHERFUCKING SHIPPING. I’d tell you what I have in my cart, but then I’d have to kill you. It’s overwhelming to go through everything, so here are seven things you should def add to your cart ASAP, so they don’t sell out.

1. Nicole Miller New York Choker-Neck Velvet A-Line Dress

Holiday season is officially here, which means the parties will soon be endless. You’ll need the perfect holiday party dress before you know it. Red and velvet are two of the biggest fashion staples for this time of year, so this dress is basically perfect for getting shitty at a holiday cocktail party. It’s trendy, chic, classy, and the perfect red for matching with your Pinot Noir.

2. MICHAEL MICHAEL KORS Damson Crossbody Bag

You’re def way overdue for a new bag, nonetheless a new going-out crossbody. Rn would be like, the most ideal and smartest time to cop one that will last forever (or until next Cyber Monday). This all-black style (obvi) is accented in 18K gold hardware and comes with five pockets so you have more than enough room for all your shit.

3. Dolce Vita Jimmy Over-The-Knee Boots

Over-the-knee boot SZN is upon us, and I could not be any happier. Not only do they give us an excuse to buy new styles in literally every single color, but they also make our legs look like they go on for days. This boot is all suede and comes with a chunky heel to make long nights out totally bearable.

4. Free People Knitted Boatneck Sweater

As the weather gets colder, our outfits are becoming lazier and lazier. When it’s cold af outside, I am not thinking of an outfit I can still look work-appropriate in. I’m thinking of an outfit where I can get away with wearing leggings and somewhat of a business casual top, so my HR rep can see my effort instead of avoiding my eye contact at all costs. That’s where a dressy oversize sweater comes in. This wool-blend peach sweater comes in a relaxed fit, with dramatic sleeves and accented shoulders, so you can look put-together at 8am, but also comfy and stylish.

5. Sam Edelman Mesh Panel Leggings

I have been looking everywhere for a pair of these because they're what Kourtney Kardashian wears they’re like, the perfect balance of cute and slutty. They make your legs look toned af, even if you can’t remember the last time you hit the treadmill, and they’re also v versatile, so you can def dress them up with a cute sweater. Most importantly, they’re leggings and the limit for the amount of black leggings you can own does not exist.

6. Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Relief Creme

The weather outside is frightful, that’s for damn sure. Winter is coming, and so help me God, I am not letting my skin look like a dry, flaky mess. For moisturized skin all season long, you’ll def need this super soft cream to help you get through winter. It leaves you feeling like a soft glowing goddess for an entire full day after each use.

7. Lord & Taylor Natural Flawless Palette

Um, did anyone know Lord & Taylor had their own makeup line? Good, because me neither, but I guess now’s a good time to stock up. Their eyeshadow collection has a ton of palettes, ranging from nudes to smokey eyes to bronzers. This palette comes with a variety of pinks, reds, and neutral browns to help you achieve a killer “I woke up like this” look. For less than $10, IDK why you’d pass up on getting one for every betch in your fam, and of course, two for yourself.

Historians say the time ‘when men were men’ never really existed.

Sponsored by  SmartQuotes - Your daily smart quote
=>

Who decided "big boys don't cry"?

It's not rare to see powerful and high profile men overcome with emotion at times, but when they do, it's usually met with some form of criticism or seen as a display of weakness. Simply put, in today's world boys and men are simply not expected to display vulnerable emotions like sadness and grief. (But anger is usually A-OK!)

When we think of the founding pillars of "manliness," we think of strength, bravery, and stoicism, and we often assume that it's just always been that way. After all, ancient Greek warriors didn't cry! Medieval knights didn't cry! Men just don't cry! It's, like, biology or something! Right? Right?

Well, actually...

A couple of historians recently took to Reddit to debunk this myth once and for all.

A user named Sassenacho prompted the thread on the r/AskHistorians subreddit with a simple question: "Today, there are voices that call for (much needed) acceptance of men's emotionality, but it is still kind of taboo. I was wondering when and why this changed in western society."

The explanations that ensued were fascinating.

Cassidy Percoco, a curator and historian at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association and author of "Regency Women's Dress" kicked things off, explaining that "masculinity and tears have not always been at odds."

Those rough and tumble medieval knights with their shiny armor and big swords? Percoco says they were actually expected to weep on occasion.

"In the Middle Ages there was a trope of masculine weeping being a mark of religious devotion and knightly chivalry; by the sixteenth century it was well-established that a masculine man was supposed to have deep emotions and to show them — in some cases, through tears."

It was a part of the whole chivalry thing and a sign of religious devotion.

As far back as Biblical times and in the age of Greek and Roman heroes, crying out of grief or sadness was just something men were expected to do.

From there, Percoco jumped forward to 17th and 18th century England. Hundreds and hundreds of years later, men crying and sharing their feelings — a gentlemanly trait known as "sensibility" — still hadn't gone out of style.

"A gentleman was to be courteous to women and other men, to talk problems out, to keep from bursting into loud displays of anger or drunkenness. You might think that that would also put the kibosh on weeping — giving way to feelings of all sorts — but this was not the case. Another gentlemanly trait of the eighteenth century was sensibility, which today sounds like it ought to mean "rationality" but is actually being aware of and susceptible to one's finer emotions."

Alex Wetmore, assistant professor in the English department at University of the Fraser Valley, chimed in as well to explain that in the mid-to-late 1700s, popular fiction often celebrated male leads who cried "a lot"!

"People are often interested to hear that there was a period of time of a few decades (1740s to 1770s) where fiction devoted to men who cry (a lot!) was not only acceptable, but, in fact, tremendously popular and widely celebrated."

Wetmore identified an archetype, which he calls "The Man of Feeling," who appears in a ton of novels from that era. (Wetmore even wrote a book on the subject.)

"When I try to explain this recurring character type to students, I usually describe him as like a comic book superhero ... BUT with the notable exception that the 'superpower' of men of feeling is an ability to spontaneously shed copious amounts of tears."

It's quite the contrast to the unflinching action heroes we see today.

It wasn't until the early 1800s that things began to change, and men started feeling the pressure to hold those tears in.

Percoco and Wetmore were both hesitant to prescribe a definite cause and effect relationship, but they do suspect the Industrial Revolution played a big part in turning the tide. (Reportedly, some factory managers actually trained workers, usually men, to suppress their emotions in order to keep productivity high.)

The age of the stoic and emotionless cowboy (a la John Wayne, who most people agree never cried in a movie) wasn't far behind, followed by the gun-wielding "Die Hard"-ian action heroes of modern cinema.

But ... while fictional macho men may have been suppressing their tears, the real men of the real world were doing the same thing they'd always done: wearing their hearts on their sleeves.

For instance: General Ulysses S. Grant cried when the Civil War finally ended. President Eisenhower cried on the eve of D-Day. And baseball legend Lou Gehrig cried when the Yankees retired his number.

And, yet, since it took hold about 200 years ago, the expectation that "boys don't cry" persists.

Today's world is certainly not one that celebrates open displays of emotion from men, often to their detriment.

Research shows that these repressed feelings can often come out in unhealthy and harmful ways, and it's all so we can meet a standard of masculinity that, likely, never truly existed.

Next time you catch someone bemoaning the "wussification of American boys" and yearning for a time "when men were men," it might be worth asking them when, exactly, they think that was.

Trump sentenced to death by North Korean people, writes state-run newspaper

Sponsored by  FreePLRArticles.biz

As President Donald Trump returned from his 12-day trip to Asia late Wednesday night, one North Korea newspaper declared the president should be put to death.

According to KCNA Watch, the North Korean newspaper Rodong Sinmun wrote on Wednesday that Trump is a “hideous criminal sentenced to death by the Korean people.”

“The worst crime for which he can never be pardoned is that he dared malignantly hurt the dignity of the supreme leadership of the ,” the editorial stated, via KCNA Watch. “Trump, who is no more than an old slave of money, dared point an accusing finger at the sun.”

During his five-country Asian swing, Trump had planned last week to make a secret trip to the Demilitarized Military Zone that separates North Korea from South Korea, but bad weather foiled those plans at the last minute. In a speech to South Korea’s National Assembly, Trump called North Korea “a country ruled as a cult” and told that country’s leadership, “Do not underestimate us. And do not try us.”

“An estimated 100,000 North Koreans suffer in gulags, toiling in forced labor, and enduring torture, starvation, rape, and murder on a constant basis,” Trump said in his speech. He added: “The horror of life in North Korea is so complete that citizens pay bribes to government officials to have themselves exported aboard as slaves. They would rather be slaves than live in North Korea.”

In response, the state-run Rodong Sinmun wrote, “He will be forced to pay dearly for his blasphemy any moment.”

The editorial also charged Trump with “malignantly hurt the dignified DPRK and Korean-style socialist system” and spouting “a load of rubbish to paint a black picture of the happy life of the great Korean people.”

Trump concluded twice on Twitter on Thursday morning that his trip was a major success.

That friendship, however, apparently doesn’t extend to North Korea, especially when you consider this Trump tweet to Kim Jong-un last week.

Wrote Rodong Sinmun: “The Korean people will regard the face of Trump as a symbol of wolf-like U.S. imperialism and as a target of merciless retaliation and send him to the hell he likes so much to tout.”

Musk Dusts Off the Fundraising Playbook With Semi, Roadster Orders

Sponsored by  our friends from Met001.biz
=>

Tesla Inc.’s Elon Musk is turning to a tried-and-true source of financing for his money-losing car company -- customers willing to wait years for him to deliver shiny new wheels to their driveways.

The chief executive officer’s unveiling of a massive Semi truck and souped-up Roadster sports car raised questions among Tesla doubters who dismissed the products as distractions from the pivotal Model 3 sedan that’s fallen behind schedule. Valid as that argument may be, Musk is deploying a clever financing trick, taking in hefty deposits to help fund Tesla’s way through its immense production challenges.

Tesla immediately began taking reservations of as much as $250,000 for the Roadster coming in 2020, and companies including Wal-Mart have already began pre-ordering Semi trucks going into production in 2019. That’s crucial cash coming in at a time when the company is burning through more than $1 billion a quarter, thanks to massive investment toward Model 3 manufacturing capacity that’s looking less likely to generate a return anytime soon.

“Elon Musk just figured out a way to avoid banker fees for a several hundred million dollar capital raise,” Brad Erickson, a KeyBanc Capital Markets analyst, wrote in a report to clients Friday. The Roadster “looked incredible and should be a meaningful force to raise some incremental capital for the company,” offsetting about a month’s worth of cash burn, he said.

We’ve seen this movie before. Tesla was struggling with manufacturing problems plaguing the Model X crossover in early 2016 when Musk revealed the Model 3 at a splashy event also held at the company’s design studio near Los Angeles. Within a week, the carmaker received more than 325,000 reservations from consumers willing to put down $1,000 deposits, raising more than the $226 million generated from Tesla’s June 2010 initial public offering.

Reservations for the Founders Series Roadster cost $5,000, plus a $245,000 wire transfer payment within 10 days, according to Tesla’s website. The company is charging a total of $50,000 to reserve the base model and the final price of the car will be $200,000. Closely held retailer Meijer Inc. is among the companies lining up to take delivery of the Semi, putting down deposits of $5,000 apiece.

“Here’s another event to wow the audience while he’s struggling to build the Model 3,” David Kudla, the chief executive officer of Mainstay Capital Management, said by phone. “The Roadster is beautiful and the technology is extremely impressive. But we have to look at the business overall. When will he make money?”

Tesla is limiting availability of Founders Series Roadsters to 1,000 reservations, which alone would bring in as much as $250 million in deposits. That’s sorely needed: The company made only 260 Model 3 sedans in the third quarter, far fewer than planned.

Musk pushed back a goal to make 5,000 Model 3s a week by about three months and has demurred on when the company will produce 10,000 units per week, a rate he had projected earlier could be reached at some point next year.

Fixing the bottlenecks holding back Model 3 output remains essential because bringing the Semi and Roadster to market will bring about more costs.

“All last night’s event did was add to Elon Musk’s shopping list of things he needs to spend money on at a time when the company is having difficulty making its base vehicle (Model 3) and its equity and debt has traded off,” Jeffrey Osborne, an analyst at Cowen & Co., wrote in a report Friday.

How thankfulness helped me salvage a tumultuous 2017.

Sponsored by  SmartQuotes - Your daily smart quote
    =>

2016 was a hard year for a lot of us. That's why on January 1, I started a "thankfulness thread" on Twitter.

It's a small thing, but it's made a big difference in my life.

Every night, just before I go to bed, I think of one thing from that day that I'm thankful for and tweet it out into the world. Sometimes, these tweets are about my family, friends, or others in my life; sometimes, they're about things as simple and silly as macaroni and cheese or a movie I watched that particular day. The point of the exercise is to find one thing I can focus on, even if just for a few seconds, to be thankful for, and put the rest of the world out of my mind.

The idea actually came from my therapist — another thing I started doing in 2017, going to a therapist — as a way to break from cycles of negativity I was experiencing after the election.

For instance, in June, I tweeted about how I was thankful for my dad, writing that "he's a good dude who always did his best."

In August, I watched my beloved Chicago Cubs put up 17 runs on the Pittsburgh Pirates. That same month, I tweeted about how thankful I was to hang out with my friends Will and Tim after their band played a set at Lollapalooza.

In October, I expressed my gratitude for Kayla, my wife and all-around favorite person on the planet. I also took a moment to appreciate the crisp weather of fall in the Midwest.

What at first seemed like a hokey ritual soon turned into one of my favorite parts of the day.

These deliberate reflections gave me a fresh sense of ease and control over my own life. I felt less stressed and more appreciative, less likely to have knee-jerk negative reactions and more eager to find ways to make a positive mark on the world. While the list didn't erase any of the many ongoing horrors of the world, it did help me put matters in perspective.

I'm nowhere near the first person to experience the benefits of being thankful. Researchers have been studying this tactic for years.

A 2009 University of Manchester study found that switching your brain into a state of gratitude right before bed had a positive effect on sleep quality and duration. The Journal of Personality and Social Psychology published a paper in 2003 highlighting the positive effects of "gratitude journals" on one's sense of mood and well-being. The Journal of Religion and Health published a 2015 study linking gratitude with physical health and hopefulness, and a 2012 Social Psychology and Personality Science paper found ties between thankfulness and an increased capacity for empathy.

Whether it's something like the proximity of my parents or the kindness and care of the people at my local pet supply store, making my list has helped me hone in on the mindset I needed to unlock those benefits.

As with all things related to mental health, it's important to find what works for you.

Some people benefit from therapy, others from medication; some swear by exercise and eating well, while others see help in the form of routine. As for me, it's been a combination of the above that's helped me cope with depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues I sometimes struggle with.

As we enter 2018, I hope to build on some of the progress I've made over the past year, to reflect on what I'd like to change and reinforce what I love about myself. As long as I'm growing and improving with each passing day, working to overcome my flaws, I'll always have something to be thankful for.

Obama to meet with China’s Xi during 3-country trip

Washington (CNN)Former President Barack Obama embarks Tuesday on an five-day trip to China, India and France, where he will meet with many of his former counterparts, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Obama's spokeswoman told CNN.

Obama, who will be in Shanghai to deliver remarks at the Global Alliance of SMEs Summit, will meet with Xi for the first time since September 2016, when both leaders ratified the Paris climate agreement in their respective countries.
President Donald Trump -- who visited China on an official visit earlier this month -- announced in June his decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris accord.
The current administration has heralded the relationship between Xi and Trump, with the President claiming to Fox Business Network's Lou Dobbs in October that he and Xi have "the best relationship of any President-President."
"As President, Obama forged a close and cooperative partnership with President Xi on issues ranging from growing the global economy to combating climate change, and he looks forward to catching up with his former counterpart," Obama spokeswoman Katie Hill said.
In New Delhi, Obama will participate in an Obama Foundation Town Hall with 280 young leaders from around India and speak at HT Media Leadership Summit.
Obama will also meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with whom he shared a warm, if not unlikely, friendship with while in office.
In Paris, Obama will deliver remarks at an introductory session of the Les Napoleons Summit before departing.

Pregnant Kylie Jenner Hosts Kardashian Family Thanksgiving And It Looks Like A Royal Wedding

      Sponsored by  FreePLRArticles.biz
      =>

Hosting a great Thanksgiving dinner is a lot of work, and it is usually a big family affair. Hopefully, those family members attending will pitch in and bring a dish or two, or at least help clean up after the feast.

Especially if the host happens to be a pregnant 20-year-old Kylie Jenner.

Over at the Kardashian clan, Kylie is hosting the entire ‘do herself! Well, okay, it’s more likely she called the caterers all by herself or perhaps asked her assistant to call the caterers. Though I’m sure she at least suggested what to order, and that’s a bit of effort, right?

Even if their Thanksgiving spread looks fully presented and prepared by professionals, at least all the Kardashians in attendance were hard at work taking Instagram pictures. So there is lots of photographic proof that their Thanksgiving meal was so much better than yours! Seriously, Kylie has her pink living room decked out like a royal wedding. The decor is immaculate, with rustic themed serving displays, white flower centerpieces, and gold detailed plates, platters, and utensils. But the food is something else… There is also enough food to feed an army! While 12 members of the Kardashian family attended the feast, there was more than enough turkey and trimmings to go around. One can hope that perhaps all of their staff who were working on the day and couldn’t be with their own families got fed as well. The delectable meal included, of course, a turkey, but also ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, mac and cheese, various veg, and cranberry sauce. It should be noted that the cranberry sauce was of the canned jelly variety, perhaps to show that the Kardashians are “just like us”… well, except for every other aspect of their lives! There were also like a million desserts from brownies, to gingerbread, to mini doughnuts, to the popular turkey-shaped Rice Krispie squares. Both Kim and Kourtney shared snaps of the Krispie treats on their Instagram accounts. Kyle managed the impressive dinner all while being pregnant with her first child. She and boyfriend Travis Scott are expecting a baby girl. Kylie’s sister, Khloe, is also expecting a child with NBA player Tristan Thompson. Khloe was absent from the meal as she spent the holiday with Thompson’s family. Kylie’s boyfriend, Travis Scott, was also notably absent from the Thanksgiving day dinner. However, Scott was spotted in Texas hosting a Hurricane Harvey relief turkey drive in Houston. He had previously taken part in relief efforts earlier this year. Although many pictures were posted to various forms of social media after the dinner, none of them contained the host herself. Kylie is apparently keeping a low profile, trying to hide her baby bump away from the camera, or perhaps just waiting for the most opportunistic moments to show it off.She sure is keeping us in a lot of suspense! So how does Kylie’s Thanksgiving feast compare with yours? With only 12 seats, I’m guessing there was no crazy Aunt Irma or drunk Uncle Bob there to make things awkward. One thing is for sure, it all looks so delicious I’m definitely getting hungry! I wonder if Kylie will share her recipes along with a picture or two of her cooking… or perhaps just a few snaps of the cardboard boxes and delivery bags. Might be nice to give props to the catering company. It would be great for business! If you can’t get enough of the Kardashians and want even more, check out the video below! Kylie’s sister, and social media queen, Kim, shows off her top eleven naughtiest Instagram photos of all time. If you’re feeling sleepy from eating too much turkey over the last few days, it’ll be sure to perk you back up!

Marine Colonel Announces Run Against Roy Moore: Hold My Beer

When retired Marine Col. Lee Busby read it was too late for a write-in candidate for the Alabama Senate race, he said, Hold my beer, we will just see about that.

Busby told The Daily Beast on Monday he is launching his long-shot bid to stop Republican nominee Roy Moore from reaching the Senate.

I have no idea if the allegations against him true or not, but I dont see anything within his experience as a judge that qualifies him for the job.

Busby said his state needs a choice other than Moore or Democrat Doug Jones.

Alabama is not happy with the two choices we have down here. They are not appealing.

Busby said he spent 31 years in the Marine Corps and on his last tour of duty was vice chief of staff to then-Gen. John Kelly, who is now White House chief of staff.

Since retiring, Busby has been the CEO of his own business and worked as a defense consultant and investment banker. At the same time, Busby has been honoring fallen Marines with sculptures like the one he was working on in his garage prior to his Senate announcement.

Busby was making a bust of Capt. George Alexi Whitney, who was killed during a CIA operation in Afghanistan in December 2016.

Unfortunately, I can only sculpt one at a time, but they are important to do, Busby said. He was a well rounded individual, devoted to his country. Tough and brave, these are the people we should be erecting monuments to.

Busbys long-shot bid is the latest event to shake up the race that has seen at least six women accuse Moore of preying on them while they were teenagers and he was an adult in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The Washington Post initially quoted four women saying Moore pursued relationships with them, one of whom was 14 when she alleges Moore molested her. Another woman, Beverly Young Nelson, accused Moore of attempting to rape her when she was 16 years old. Nelson showed a yearbook she says was signed by Roy Moore, D.A. as evidence.

The day after The Washington Post story, the Republican Partys Senate campaign arm severed financial ties with Moores campaign. Senate Republicans, including Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, have called for Moore to drop out of the race, or else face expulsion should he win.

Meanwhile, President Trump has only increased his support of Moore, tweeting over the weekend that Jones must be defeated.

The last thing we need in Alabama and the U.S. Senate is a Schumer/Pelosi puppet who is WEAK on Crime, WEAK on the Border, Bad for our Military and our great Vets, Bad for our 2nd Amendment, AND WANTS TO RAISES TAXES TO THE SKY. Jones would be a disaster! the president tweeted.

The White House said Trump has no plans to campaign in Alabama for Moore.

When the first story of Moores alleged sexual misconduct broke in early November, Republican senators started to abandon him.

Moore has denied all of the allegations, threatened to sue The Washington Post for reporting some of them and sought to discredit the stories and portray them as an element of a Washington establishment hellbent on keeping him from earning a Senate seat.

Since the scandal broke, both public and private polls have shown the race is a virtual dead heat, with some polls even showing Jones leading Moore before the Dec. 12 election. If elected, Jones would be the first Democrat elected U.S. senator from Alabama in a quarter century.

2 women fly cross-country to confront cheating husbandsand a stranger live-tweeted it all

At an airport bar, it’s normal to overhear people talking to strangers about their travel plans. It’s rarer to hear a conversation about two women about to confront their husbands on a surprise cross-country trip. It’s especially rarer when the two husbands are sleeping with each other.

But one woman eavesdropped on a conversation that sounded just like a movie plot, and she live-tweeted it.

The dialogue between the two women was amazing.

      They started boozing.

The author of the tweets pointed out that the women’s situation sounded a lot like the plot of the Netflix show Grace and Frankie, in which two women become friends after their husbands fall in love with each other.

      Turns out, they’ve seen it.

The whole thing ended on a cliffhanger.

The internet doesn’t know what happened once the women landed in Chicago and confronted their husbands, but it loves this story.

      Everyone wants closure.

And people are calling for someone to turn this story into a script.

We hope that Shot Lady and Gum Lady read this thread on Twitter and give us the full story.

Researchers Publish Bombshell Report That Suggests Sugar Industry Conspiracy

      Sponsored by AMA News
      =>

In 1964, a group of researchers published Dietary Fats and Intestinal Thiamine Synthesis in Rats in the journal Nutrition Reviews. It tackled the classic sugar versus fat conundrum that has puzzled dieters for decades: Whats worse for health, sugar or fat?

The researchers divided rats into two groups. One group had diets that were 75 percent fat but no sugar, a sort of rodent Whole Foods regimen. It contrasted with the other group of rats, who had a lower fat countjust 15 percentbut 60 percent sucrose as well. The conclusion the team came to? Rats fed sucrose metabolized it as a carbohydrate and developed thiamine deficiency, often leading to heart failure; more complex carbohydrates helped create a gut bacteria that synthesized thiamine.

That paper got the Sugar Research Foundation interested in understanding the role of the white stuff in our microbiome. The foundationa precursor to todays Sugar Associationasked a group, referred to as Project 259 and led by Dr. W. F. R. Pover at the University of Birmingham, to study the effect of sugar in the gut between 1967 and 1971. It found that rats and guinea pigs given diets higher in sugar led to higher levels of triglycerides than those fed a standard pellet diet of cereal, soybean, and whitefish meals. That led to higher levels of beta-glucoronidase in urine, a now-proven result of bladder cancer. An internal document later described the Project 259 research as one of the first demonstrations of a biological difference between sucrose and starch fed rats. In short: A sugar-heavy diet was connected to heart disease.

But those results never saw the light of day by the now-defunct Sugar Research Foundation, according to a damning new paper published in PLOS Biology from Cristin E. Kearns, Dorie Apollonio, and Stanton A. Glantz. Its the latest in a series of papers Kearns and Glantz have teamed up on investigating the sugar industrys clamping down on research in postwar America, suggesting sugar was guilt-free and a healthier substitute to fat.

Judging by the media and public interest, it basically shows that the sugar industry pretty much behaved the same way the tobacco companies did, Glantz, a professor of medicine and tobacco control expert at the University of California, San Francisco, told The Daily Beast. Glantzs previous work explored the tobacco lobbying industry, with a 2013 paper in Tobacco Control tracing the rise of the Tea Party to tobaccos efforts to align themselves with libertarians through third party groups staunchly opposing taxation and regulation.

While a similar connection between sugar and the government hasnt been found yet, Glantz and Kearns have uncovered evidence over the past few years that shows the sugar industry was heavily involved in muffling research that indicated its product was dangerous to health. Scientific journals followed suit, with even the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine publishing a report that suggested that any linkage between sucrose and coronary heart disease was false, and that sucrose was in fact better than starch. (Pover died a few years ago, according to Kearns.)

Pover and Project 259s original research disappeared for decades, until Glantz and Kearns unearthed it. They suspect that the study was not quite ready for publication and that Pover asked for more funds to ensure accuracy. Theyd been funding it for two years and about $200,000 in todays money, Kearns said. He needed 18 more weeks, but they probably said no.

Even the incomplete results are interesting, Glantz pointed out. The sugar industry proved there were no differences to how sugar calories were metabolized compared to starch calories.

Which is, of course, totally untrueand the latest in a slow but steady unraveling of the industry that pushes soda, high fructose corn syrup, and more in the American diet.

And this isnt even the first time the sugar industry has misrepresented scientific results that would indicate sugar is not as sweet as it might appear. Glantz and Kearns published another industry-rocking report last year in JAMA Internal Medicine that showed the Sugar Research Foundation systematically discounted studies that tied sugar to ill health effects such as cancer, obesity, and heart disease by secretly funding groups in the 1960s and 1970s casting fat as the culprit behind these chronic diseases. The soda industrys denial of sodas connection with obesity and other nutritional studies backed by food giants that suggest candy does not affect a childs weight all fall in the same category.

These guys are not nice, Glantz said. They were distorting the whole process. People would look at you and say you need psychological treatment for daring to suggest that sugar was not as healthy as it was made out to be.

That made Glantzs and Kearns work especially difficult as they waded through old documents that often showcased conflicting results and confusion about the exact effects of sugar on a diet. Kearns is a professor of dentistry at the University of California, San Francisco, and started researching the sugar industry after attending a dental conference about a decade ago. In a session about diabetes and periodontal diseasetwo conditions that are affected by sugar intakeshe noticed that no one was talking about reducing sugar to control them.

The diet advice was to reduce fat and reduce calories, and all the brochures said that, too, Kearns told The Daily Beast. But its not what the research and guidelines say. Im a dentist, and I know: The role of sugar in tooth decay is significant, and its the number one chronic disease in children.

So Kearns teamed up with Glantz, who had made a name for himself uncovering the tobacco industrys stealthy PR campaign during the 1960s and 1970s to distance itself from lung cancer, funding research that downplayed its health effects, and allowed for advertising that glamorized smoking. The two found internal documents that suggested natural alternatives to sugar, such as the sugar beet industry in Colorado in the 1970s, went out of business. Kearns found that odd, along with the demonization of high fructose corn syrup (a corn product) by the sugar industry, and started delving more into the industry.

Glantz, for his part, said there are immediate parallels between the sugar and tobacco industry. The two even shared lobbyists, with several going from tobacco to sugar, explaining the similar PR campaign and philosophy of both. They wanted to stay on top of the science and be ahead of the science, Glantz said. They worked to manipulate the process and prevent a scientific consensus from emerging.

The fact that the sugar industry funded an alternate study to quash scientific results it had itself found to continue an image of being a sensible item to have in a diet is something that heavily contributed to the very modern American obesity, heart disease, and cancer epidemics, but have also repeatedly been shown to be used in marketing campaigns for impoverishedand often, heavily Hispanic and African-Americancommunities. It was what convinced Coca-Cola to use sucrose [instead of high fructose corn syrup], Kearns pointed out. Glantz added that sugar is seen as pure and unadulterated, something that is innocent and not considered a serious vice or health detraction on the levels of smoking: You add sucrose to your coffee. You bake with it. You have snack and beverages in it. Its even in your hamburgers and pizza.

The sugar industry, for their part, released a statement, saying: The article we are discussing is not actually a study, but a perspective: a collection of speculations and assumptions about events that happened nearly five decades ago, conducted by a group of researchers and funded by individuals and organizations that are known critics of the sugar industry. (The report was funded by the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, the Samuel Lawrence Foundation, the National Cancer Institute, the UCSF Philip R. Lee Institute of Health Policy Studies, the UCSF School of Dentistry, and the Nutrition Science Initiative.)

The ubiquity of sugar in our diet, whether we realize it or not, has huge implications not only for our health but also for medical expenses in this country. Glantz and Kearns hope that this most recent paper will pressure the Food and Drug Administration to recommend diets contain less than 10 percent of sugars daily (as of 2011, average sugar consumption hovered in the 15 percent range) and for stricter oversight on nutrition research.

A lot of people, they ask, Why are you looking at this ancient history? Who cares? Glantz said of his work investigating the tobacco and sugar industries and how they funded research. I always say, Trust me, people will care.
